Foster Hope NZ is an organisation that supports children placed in foster care throughout New Zealand. Every year they have an appeal to collect pyjamas, as many children placed in care have never had their own pair of pyjamas before, and it gives them something to “own”. Each child is given a backpack, with a pair of pyjamas, a toy, toiletries and other clothing items such as socks and underwear.
Whitelaw Weber decided to jump onboard and give Debbie and the team a helping hand for the 2017 appeal. The end result was a donation of 269 pairs of children’s pyjamas, for both boys and girls. This was made up of 100 pairs donated by Whitelaw Weber, with 169 pairs donated by our clients and the community. All three offices, Kaikohe, Kaitaia and Kerikeri were used as drop-off points. A highlight of the appeal was children becoming involved as their parents spoke to them about what Foster Hope does for the Northland community, and they gathered items to donate.
Items donated included children’s underwear, socks, toothbrushes (kids & adults), toothpaste, soft toys & books, facecloths, large packs of nappies, baby wipes and baby bibs.
Whitelaw Weber is incredibly grateful that there are organisations like Foster Hope in our community. We were so excited to help them this year, that we want to help out again next year!
