January often sees a raft of changes. Why is this? Over the summer holiday, we usually have time to reflect on our personal and business goals. We step into the new year full of inspiration and motivation to make improvements.
One of the common problems business owners face is being a slave to their business. Being a slave implies a victim mentality – the world has simply dealt you a bad hand, you have to be like this because of your clients or your team or the economy or … (insert some other excuse as to why you can’t change).
In the OARBED model we know that we must act above the line. This means taking Ownership and Responsibility for our actions and being Accountable to others to do what we say we’ll do. (Not Blaming, Excusing or Denying).
So what’s stopping you taking control of your business? What are the things you need to do to make 2018 different? For example, start going home on time, make time to look after your health, stop accepting work from people who don’t respect your payment terms, make time to plan, implement 10 strategies to grow your cashflow, empower and train your team to do more (and stop ignoring piss poor performance and persistent texting at work!!!).
No more excuses – it’s your business, you make the rules, you are not a slave!
